American Academy of Professional Coders

If you successfully pass the CPC test but have less than two years of coding experience, you will become a Certified Professional Coder − Apprentice (CPC-A). You will retain this status until you have gained the required two years of coding experience. Upon completion of two years of coding experience, your credentialing status will be updated after you submit a request in writing to the AAPC along with documentation verifying experience.

Students may sit for the current AAPC Certified Professional Coder (CPC) examination (nationally recognized certification accreditation). The examination is a 5 hours and 40 minutes , open book (CPT, ICD-9-CM and HCPCS) exam covering every section of the CPT manual.

Coding and Reimbursement Basics
6-weeks every Saturday 9:00AM – 12:00PM Cost - $650.00

This six week course introduces the student to the fundamentals of medical coding, billing and medical record documentation. A building block for insurance reimbursement.

ICD-10 – It’s coming, are you ready?

The Centers for Medicare & Medicare Services (CMS) has confirmed the implementation date for ICD-10 will be October 1, 2015. The ICD-10-CM code set will expand to approximately 68,000 diagnosis codes. Are you ready?

ICD-10-CM Boot Camps Offerings*

This course is not intended to teach students how to code, but rather teach coders how to use the new ICD-10-CM coding system. Cost - $350.00
*All boot camps will be held in the Hampton/Newport News area.
